I've started with my love affair with Jojo Moyes' books when I've read Me before you. After that book, I have devoured any book that she has authored and most of them I have loved. This book is really heartwarming and a page turner. I finished this book in a couple of hours, not able to put it down coz every time I tried to, I can't wait to know what happens next so I kept going. I love Jojo Moyes' style of writing. Precise, detailed enough but not overly so. She has a way of painting a picture that allows the readers to really experience what is happening with the characters. She has a talent of touching the right emotions at the perfect time so the reader is really engrossed with the book and can really relate with the characters. I can't wait to read more of her and this one goes down in my list as one memorable read.
Habe diese Geschichte von Jojo Moyes mit Freude und grossem Vergnügen gelesen. Eine Art Roadmovie in literarischer Form, wobei auf herzerwärmende und kein bisschen kitschige Weise von den Sorgen einer alleinerziehenden, in ständiger Geldnot befindlichen Mutter erzählt wird, von ihren zwei sehr besonderen Kindern und dem riesigen Hund Norman.. Mit von der Partie ist ein in Schwierigkeiten geratenen Londoner Jungunternehmer, der als ambivalenter Retter in der Not auftaucht und alle auf eine recht bewegte Reise nach Schottland mitnimmt. Natürlich ist das Ganze auch eine Liebesgeschichte, aber mehr noch ist es eine schöne, humorvolle Erzählung von Zuversicht, Zueinanderstehen, Verzeihenkönnen, Nicht-Aufgeben und eben: Liebe.Jo-Jo Moyes gelingt es, dies alles so zu erzählen, dass es keineswegs zu zuckrig wird, trotz einer gewissen Vorhersehbarkeit spannend bleibt und nie ins Triviale abgleitet.
I have read several books by Moyes so far. Some I really loved, others not so much. But this one is the best book I've read in quite a while. Beautifully crafted, changing perspectives, suspenseful plot.
Die Geschichte einer alleinerziehenden Mutter eines Mädchens und eines angenommenen Teenagers aus einer vorigen Beziehung ihres Ex-Mannes, die sich mit allen typischen und von anderen nicht gesehenden Problemen eines alleinerziehenden Elternteils und massiven finanziellen Einschränkungen herumschlägt. Auf der anderen Seite die Geschichte eines erfolgreichen Mannes, der durch eine Unüberlegtheit/Dummheit vor Gericht muss und auf die Weise seine Arbeitsstelle verliert.Durch eine, fast erzwungene, gemeinsame Reise von England nach Schottland müssen sich die Zwei miteinander auseinandersetzen, Vorurteile über Bord werfen, entstehende Probleme bewältigen und auch mit der Liebe zurechtkommen.Es ist ein sehr nettes Buch, welches auch den Spannungsbogen hält und auch auf typischer Moyes Art ehrlich, direkt, gefühlvoll und nett geschrieben ist. Wenn man vorher "The Girl You Left Behind" gelesen hat, fehlt dieser Geschichte -vergleichsweise- an derTiefe (deshalb keine 5 Sterne), was der Qualität dieses Buches aber keinen Abbruch tut. Also - lesenswert!
I really liked this book, the story was a little different from what you normally read. Still it was pretty clear how the story would end from beginning on, but one doesn't expect a lot of tension from a Moyes novel. It's beautifully written and as always she is able to perfectly describe the emotions of every character. Sometimes one is a little annoyed by the constant unfortunate event which at some point don't seem realistic anymore. Moreover, the protagonist is a little too stubborn. Still, a really good read for a quiet weekend or a vacation.
Dieser Roman reißt einen mit, lässt sich leicht lesen und ist einfach schön! Die Geschichte ist lustig geschrieben und ich bin froh, dieses Buch gelesen zu haben.
It left me feeling sad when I finished this book! Would love to read more. This was my second non-Lou book of Jojo Moyes and I find her stories always have the right ratio of humour, melancholy, drama and love.
